This father-and-son wilderness weekend is more than just time away, it’s an invitation to reconnect, to learn side by side, and to discover the rhythm of the wild together.

Over two unforgettable days you’ll:

Explore a Wildlife Reserve alongside expert rangers
Learn bushcraft, survival, and tracking skills
Share campfire meals and fireside stories under star-filled skies
Take part in hands-on conservation activities that matter

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival, Camp Setup & Stargazing

Afternoon: Arrive at the designated reserve within Kwa-Zulu Natal
– Welcome and meet your PAWZ Africa and ranger hosts
– Father-and-son team-building moment: pitch your tent and set up camp together
– Bush orientation and safety briefing

Evening: Socialising
– Bush games and storytelling around the fire
– Bread making

Dinner: Fireside dinner (Self catered)
– Stargazing session and intro to bush astronomy

Day 2: Guided Bush Walk & Snare Sweep

Early Morning: Meet at ranger HQ for a briefing
– Patrol begins on foot through high-risk poaching zones
– Participants assist with:
Spotting and removing snares
GPS mapping of snare locations
Learning how rangers track human signs in the bush

Mid Morning: Rest stop with bush snacks and coffee

Afternoon: Free time / Optional activities
– Downtime by the pool/river
– Bush games

Evening: Sunset game drive
– Bush drinks at a scenic lookout

Dinner: Bonfire & Braai
– Catered bush braai
– Share stories with Smores (Toasted marshmallows with biscuit & chocolate)

Day 3: Conservation Activities & Departure

Morning: Craft activity
– Draw a picture of their experience
– Build a Bee box
– Press leaves

Brunch: Final group reflection on the experience & Certificate ceremony
– Receive your “Wildlife Guardian” Certificate of Impact

Midday: Departure
– Leave not just connected but fulfilled, inspired, and inspired by nature

Based in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa, the majority of our work takes place in this region. Our focus as the name suggests is towards Parks and Wildlife Zululand however upon invitation by other organisations and reserves we will assist on projects nationally.
