This is not a scenic game drive. This is the frontline of conservation where steel snares threaten lives, and dedicated rangers work tirelessly to protect our wildlife.

Join a team of anti-poaching rangers on a guided foot patrol, as you help locate and remove deadly wire snares from the bush. These silent killers are laid for bushmeat poaching and claim the lives of countless innocent animals big and small.

This immersive field experience offers an unfiltered look at the daily fight to keep wildlife safe and gives you the rare opportunity to be part of that story.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival, Meet & Greet

Afternoon: Arrive at the designated Game Reserve within Kwa-Zulu Natal
– Welcome drink and settle into your accommodation
– Meet your PAWZ Africa and reserve hosts

Evening: Sunset Game Drive focusing on anti-poaching efforts.
– Introduction to the snare problem and the critical role rangers play
– Learn about the specific challenges facing the reserve you’re supporting

Dinner: Fireside Dinner & Briefing
– Enjoy a traditional bush dinner under the stars
– Meet the ranger team who will lead the patrol

Day 2: Guided Bush walk & Snare Sweep

Early Morning: Meet at ranger HQ for a briefing and gear distribution
– Patrol begins on foot or 4×4 through high-risk poaching zones
– Participants assist with:
Spotting and removing snares
GPS mapping of snare locations
Learning how rangers track human signs in the bush

Mid Morning: Rest stop with bush snacks and coffee

Afternoon: Free Time / Optional Activities
– Relax by the pool
– Enjoy a massage
– Take a short nature walk

Evening: Sunset Game Drive
– Bush drinks at a scenic lookout

Dinner: Celebration Dinner & Certificate Ceremony
– Receive your “Wildlife Guardian” Certificate of Impact
– Closing stories

Day 3: Conservation Activities & Departure

Morning: Choose an activity such as:
– Bush Walk
– Game Drive

Brunch: Final group reflection on the experience

Midday: Departure
– Leave not just rested but fulfilled, inspired, and reconnected to nature

Based in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa, the majority of our work takes place in this region. Our focus as the name suggests is towards Parks and Wildlife Zululand however upon invitation by other organisations and reserves we will assist on projects nationally.
